Vacation from vacation

Well we made it back from California and now I need to have a break from the vacation. I am so tired. Bennett did great on the plane there and back which was a relief. Had a good time seeing the sights of Santa Barbara and San Francisco. We walked from our hotel to Chinatown and ate Chinese there. How ironic huh? It was delicious. The walk itself made me hungry since it was quite a ways from our hotel. Got to see a real fight on the street between two teenagers. One tried to beat the other with a chair. I was a little worried when they ran across the street toward us. But we got out of there without any incidents. Whew! I also saw a man serving soup out of two 5 gallon buckets for the homeless people. It was sad how many homeless there were in SF. Visited Alcatraz which was the highlight of my trip. It was very interesting and I wanted to explore further but they do not allow it. The audio tour of the prison was very neat also. They also had the cells where the 3 men escaped so you could see how they chipped away at the vents and squeezed through them. Wow. All in all, a good time. It is nice however, to be back at my own home and in my own bed. I did not sleep good one night when we were gone. That is hard on a person. I slept great the first night home. Ahhhh. That's about it. I'll blog more when I have another adventure.

Birthdays in Heaven

I wonder if they celebrate birthdays in heaven. That would be quite a shindig I have to say. I can't even imagine. But if they do, then today my brother Brian is having a wonderful birthday. He would have been 38 years old. Love ya bro.

The cold wind is whipping through everything these days. The onset of winter is here and I dread the snow coming once again. There were a few flakes falling this morning. It was beautiful in it's own way. No wind, just snowflakes fluttering gently to the ground. I can handle the cold, it's the wind that gets me. Brrrrr.

This Saturday Kurt and I are going to a Mark Schultz concert in Sioux Center, IA. What an amazing singer and songwriter he is. I am totally excited.

Later!
