Matrimony

Well it's finally Friday again. We have my cousin Justin's wedding tomorrow night. They are having a dance after the reception and I am totally pumped. I love dancing and Kurt doesn't so the only time I get to do it is at weddings. I get a little crazy but it's all in good fun. He he he! (Me laughing giddily.)

In other news, still no progress on the sandbox for Bennett. Kurt got the frame made but no lid yet. I told him that he has to get it made by the time he leaves for Florida. We'll see how he does. Poor Bennett is patiently waiting for his sandbox.

I would just like to say that I think broccoli is the best vegetable ever. Hands down.

Guacamole

Today I tried some guacamole chips made by Old Dutch. Yum. Pretty delicious! Salty too. Green fingers topped it off.

Finally Friday. Wonderful news to me. I am happy to say my sinus headache finally went away. We had our first fire of the summer last night in our firepit. Pretty sad considering that it is the end of July. All in all, it was fun. Plus it was sorta cold last night so the heat felt good. There is something mesmerizing about a fire. You could go into a trance just watching the flames dance. Oh that was a rhyme! It is great to just sit and relax with friends. Time goes by too fast these days.

Human Weather Predictor

Another sinus headache today. Must mean the weather is changing. I hate sinuses. As I have stated previously, they are evil. I drank 2 huge cups of cappucino and it hasn't helped either. Now I have to go the bathroom. Those drugs better kick in soon.

Kurt made a frame for our sandbox yesterday. Exciting! Now we just have to get it leveled out and put the sand in it. He is making a cover for it too. Bennett will love it! I have a bunch of sandbox toys put away for him to play with.

Va-K

We made it back from our mini vacation on Saturday. It was really relaxing and stress-free. Something I needed for a long time. But it is nice to get back into the swing of things again. Bennett really missed us and now is clingy. I can't blame him. Plus I love cuddling with the little guy. He is such a sweetie. Fortune Bay Resort is where we went up around Tower, MN. Nice area with lots of trees. The weather was HOT HOT HOT... up in the 90s. We went on a boat with a couple we knew and Kurt got motion sick. So we dropped him off at the dock and he said I could stay fishing so I did. Not a bite though. Lake Vermilion is huge. Kinda scary in a way. I forgot to mention that we got a room with 2 double beds. We were like the tallest people there and we got the stinkin double beds. We had to lay diagonal and our feet still dangled off the bed. The hot tub was nice and we went in the sauna too. On Friday afternoon we went to the Tower-Soudan Underground Iron Ore Mine. That was awesome... it was 52 degrees. We were around a half mile underground. It is pretty dark down there without lights. Really neat though. Our tour guide, Pete, rocked. He was very talkative and funny. We also saw some cute bats hanging out. All in all, a relaxing va-k.

The Line Between The Two

This is one of my favorite songs from Mark Harris. The lyrics really speak to me.

The Line Between The Two - Mark Harris

A beginning and an ending, dates upon a stone
But the moment in the middle is how we will be known
Cause what defines us can be found within a line
Finding reason for our time

chorus:
And the years go by, how they seem to fly
They'll all be over soon
When our life is done, did we live and love
The way we wanted to
Cause everyday that we leave behind
Goes on to tell the truth
Of how we lived in the line between the two
The line between the two

Will I walk straight, will I be true
Will I finish strong
Will I stand up for the moment
When I could right a wrong
Because the legacy we have will never change
It's how we spend our days

chorus

I could live a life for just myself
Or I could live a life for someone else
But I'll live and die just to hear You say
Well done my son come and be with Me

chorus

Laying Awake

Well I have spent quite a few nights laying awake lately. My thoughts always seem to keep going even after I try to turn them off. Most of the time, for some reason, I end up thinking about my brother Brian. How he lived his life, how wonderful he was, and how much time I wasted that I could have spent with him, talked to him, called him on the phone instead of putting it off for another day when I had more time. TIME. If only I could have those days back. But they are gone. Wasted forever. And here I am, left with only memories of an amazing person whose life meant so much to so many people. Precious memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life. May I never waste another day. May I make memories for others to remember me by so that when they look back on my life, they see Jesus shining out of me. Cause that's what I see when I look at Brian's life. Rest in peace, big brother. I'll see you on the other side.

This Day

This day all His mercies are new
This day every promise is true
Father, help me to believe
Give me faith I need to know You
And trust You this day
This day
-Steven Curtis Chapman "This Day"

Steven Curtis Chapman has been one of my favorite artists for a very long time. His lyrics are just amazing and the music is inspiring. I wish I could see him in concert. Maybe one of these years.

Today is whatever I make of it. I plan to make it a great day! I hope you do too.

Evil Sinuses

Today has been a terrible day. I have had a sinus headache for like 2 days now. I just want it to go away. Medicine doesn't seem to help, just numbs the pain. Sinuses are just holes in your head, why do they cause so many problems?

Tuesday was the 4th. We went to Luke and Kelly's place for burgers and hot dogs. It was great. Friends and fun, what more can you ask for? We also shot clay pigeons and I shot a gun for the first time in my life. I actually got 2 of the clay pigeons. Pretty good for a beginner I think. At least I was proud. :) Then a little bonfire topped the evening off while we watched the fireworks you could see from Leota. Summer is grand. I wish the lazy days could last forever.
